AUBURN HILLS, MI [JANUARY 2020] – Trista Johnson, Director for Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan RSVP programs in Oakland and Macomb counties, was appointed Vice-President of the Michigan Association of Retired & Senior Volunteer Program Directors.
“This comes as no surprise,” said Paul Propson, CEO Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan. Propson also commented that “Trista has been with our Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) for six years in Oakland and Macomb Counties and has always shown tremendous leadership and drive.”
She was appointed to this position by the Executive Board of this association due to a vacancy. “I feel honored to have my efforts recognized by my peers,” said Trista.
Last year alone, across Michigan, the volunteers managed by the members of this group provided 38,000 clients with food, 2,700 low-income seniors received tax assistance with a total refund of $2.6 million, 4,000 clients received Medicare/Medicaid assistance and saved over $1 million in prescription drug costs.
Established over 40 years ago, this federally supported program connects individuals age 55+ to volunteer opportunities that impact their local communities’ specific needs and goals. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is one of three programs operated by the Corporation for National and Community Service under Senior Corps.
