2022 MLK Day of Service
Jan 13, 2022
The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is an official day of service and celebrates the civil rights leader’s life and legacy. Observed each year on the third Monday in January, MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan and AmeriCorps Senior Volunteer Programs invite you to participate by sending a letter of thanks! The Oxford school shooting was an atrocity and we want to show our appreciation to our front-line workers for all of their hard work. Here's how you can help -
  • Purchase or make a card thanking first responders and front-line workers for their hard work.  This could include teachers, law enforcement officials, medical staff, volunteers, and more.
  • Write a note of gratitude or thanks - keep the content encouraging and positive! Some suggestions include:
-Thank you for serving when you're needed the most. -All the good people of Michigan stand with the Oxford community. -Our thoughts and prayers are with you for all that you do. -Thank you for helping in difficult situations. -We appreciate what you did to help the community of Oxford
  • Sign your card with your first name only and your city and county
  • Mail your card(s) to Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan AmeriCorps Seniors Office located at
3300 S. Adams Rd. Auburn Hills, MI. 48236 Our goal is to collect 900 cards statewide. Please mail your cards to the address above no later than Wednesday, January 19. If you have any questions, please contact Danele Mabe at 248-537-3300 ext. 3957 or mabed@ccsem.org
