All Saints Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry Temporarily Suspends Operations
Jul 31, 2020
Dear Neighbors, Friends, Partner Parishes and Community Organizations, We have some exciting news to share; the All Saints Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry are moving! The official announcement, details, and timeline are coming soon. Immediately, I consider it a privilege to be able to share this exciting news with all of you - our trusted and beloved ‘All Saints’ family! When are you going to move? The All Saints Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry will first establish a headquarters and relocation to the new Detroit Center for the Works of Mercy building, located at 8642 Woodward Avenue. It is out of this newly established headquarters that we will continue to serve the families within the Springwells and Delray communities. All the while, we will work to locate and secure a permanent ‘All Saints’ satellite hub at an independent location or within a neighboring parish in or around the Southwest Detroit/River Rouge/and nearby downriver communities. We anticipate the completion of the move and newly established headquarters to commence sometime in the fall of 2020. Why relocate now? The idea to relocate was something we would have had to consider in the future. The construction efforts alone, on the new Gordie Howe Bridge, have continued to change the neighborhood landscape, community, and population at a steady rate. The time to relocate was no coincidence as the growing need for emergency food, medical, and senior relief services grew exponentially throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. What will happen to the current ‘All Saints’ location? As of now, all regular meals, pantry programs, and service hours will remain open through Thursday, July 23, 2020. We will begin the suspension of all operations and services beginning on Friday, July 24, 2020. These changes are necessary to prepare for our move and start our search for a permanent satellite location. Where should our neighbors and families go during this transition? We have included a list of neighboring mobile Pantry locations to consider during our absence. These resources are ready, willing, and equipped to serve the needs of our beloved ‘All Saints’ family during this transition. We encourage you to utilize these resources until we can break bread with you again! How will I know when the new headquarters and satellite hub are open? We will post updates at the current ‘All Saints’ location as needed. We also encourage you to visit https://ccsem.org//allsaints/ regularly for the most up-to-date information and new announcements. Please know that the decision to relocate and ultimately suspend services did not come easy. Still, we hope that this temporary inconvenience will become a permanent blessing to our neighbors, friends, and families in the area. On behalf of the management and staff of the entire Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan team, we are counting the days and hours until we can serve you again!
