It is with heavy hearts that Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan shares the news of the unexpected passing of Rebecca Anne Turner, Program Manager of our St. Joseph Center of Hope, on August 31, 2026. She was 42.

Rebecca joined the CCSEM family nearly eight years ago, and in that time became a bright light for thousands of individuals in Monroe County and the surrounding communities who were seeking help and recovery from addiction. She believed, without exception, that every life is worthy of a second chance, and she fought for each person who walked through the doors of St. Joseph Center of Hope. When funding for the program was cut by 92%, it was Rebecca who rallied community partners and stakeholders to keep the doors open through July 31, 2026 — a testament to her tenacity and her love for the people she served.

"There will never be another supervisor like her," said Robert Knack, a peer coach who worked alongside Rebecca. Her colleagues remember her commitment, her passion, and the compassion she brought to some of the hardest work there is.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Mark; her daughter, Sophia; and her son, Brendan; her parents, Ronald and Elizabeth Bedra; her siblings, Ronnie Bedra, Jonathan Bedra, Kaitlin Bedra, and Jenna (Taylor) Lemanski; her in-laws, L.E. and Sue Turner, Dave and Lisa Dart, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Virginia Allen, and grandfather, Terry Ervin.
