La Casa Amiga Legal Clinic and Community Programs Receives Grant from Oakland County Bar Foundation Grant will be used to support Afghanis fleeing the war-torn nation.

Southfield, MI – January 24, 2022 – Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan is thrilled to announce receipt of a $15,000 grant from the Oakland County Bar Foundation. The grant was awarded to CCSEM’s La Casa Amiga Legal Clinic and Community Programs in Pontiac. The financial assistance will help CCSEM fulfill the urgent legal needs of inadmissible or otherwise ineligible Afghanis as they arrive in the United States, in addition to continuing to serve the current immigrant community. “La Casa Amiga Legal Clinic is very grateful that the Oakland County Bar Foundation has agreed to support us as we provide legal services to the Afghan evacuees, as well as other disadvantaged immigrants throughout Oakland County,” said Rebecca Olszewski, Attorney and Program Director. “With their assistance, we are excited about this partnership and hope to make even a greater difference in the lives of our immigrant community.” La Casa Amiga Legal Clinic and Community Programs help provide legal assistance, support, and other services to help immigrant families. Catholic Charities provides a wide array of services to the Southeast Michigan community, including adoption and foster care, food, clothing, mental and behavioral health counseling, recovery treatment programs, immigration and refugee support, services for seniors, and ministries for expectant mothers, and families of young infants.
