At Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan, we are not a social service agency that happens to be Catholic — we are an expression of our faith, patterned after the ministry of Jesus Christ. And at the center of that ministry? People who give of themselves.
This April, as we celebrate National Volunteer Month, we want to say something we don't say enough: thank you.
Thank you to the volunteers who stock shelves, serve meals, sit with seniors, mentor youth, answer phones, and show up — week after week — for neighbors they may never have met otherwise. You are the living proof that mercy is not an abstract idea. It has hands. It has a face. It shows up on time.
Last year, CCSEM volunteers contributed thousands of hours of service across our programs — from the All Saints Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry to our AmeriCorps Senior Volunteer Programs to the Center for the Works of Mercy and beyond. Each hour represents a moment when someone chose to see a stranger as a neighbor, and a neighbor as a brother or sister in Christ.
Whether you've served for years or are just considering your first step, we invite you to join us. There is a place for you here.
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." — 1 Peter 4:10
